The REU program includes a variety of professional development components to educate students on many aspects of research, higher education and career opportunities. Plans for Summer 2008 include:

A weekly seminar series
Laboratory safety training
Discussion of professional ethics and scientific misconduct
Tips on giving an effective research presentation
Life in graduate school
Career counseling
Chemical literature searching
Student presentations of their research
A poster session at which the REU students present their research results to the faculty and students.
Research conferences: Students will be encouraged to present their research results at national conferences and conference travel funds are available. |
