Lecture: MWF 10:00-10:50 a.m. in CP-139 ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY

Exam 3 information:

CHE 232 exam 3 will be in class on Monday, November 20, 2006.
Coverage is Chapters 17 through 19 with no problems explicitly from (listed in class Wed 11/15):

17.1- 17.2 (tested on exam 2, but the principles are used in the rest of Ch 17)
17.9c, 17.10
18.10 (although I briefly discussed saponification and surfactants)
19.14-19.18 (will cover topics in class as time allows)

Exam 3 breakdown:

12 points on nomenclature, 10 on physical/spectroscopic trends (not structure ID), 63 on synthesis (you provide starting material, product or reagents), 15 on mechanism or synthetic strategy.
With at least 63 points on synthesis, be sure to do a lot of practice problems from ACE, textbook (recommended problems) and other sources (syllabus links, workbook).

Final exam information:

CHE 232 final exam will be in CP-139 on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, 10: 30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m..
Coverage is Chapters 13 through 20.
All topics covered on Exams 1–3 will be included, plus:

Sections 19.15 and 19.16
Chapter 20, sections 20.1–20.6, 20.9
