Practice Problem Two
You will not submit this for credit.
Examine our recent notes on cation cyclization.
See the literature cited.
Then retrosynthetically analyze the following target molecules with the
cation cyclization retron. Perhaps the first retro arrow that gets you
there will be cation cyclization. When you use the cation cyclization
you may stop your retrosynthesis. This exercise is a good one in order
to apply more than one retro using similar methodology. This will test
your command over the chemistry.

HINTS: Compound A is similar
to one of the examples we did in class. For molecule B think symmetry.
For molecule C think about Friedel-Crafts
acylation. For molecule D think about electrophillic aromatic
substitution as a component of the cyclization.
