Practice Problem Three

Examine our recent notes on stereocontrol in alkenes in the forum of
the C18 Juvenile Hormone of the Cecropia silk moth.
(1) Retrosynthetically analyze down to starting materials contain no
more than seven carbon atoms the following target molecule using Still's method.
(2) Retrosynthetically analyze the following target molecule using Corey's method.
Think about the limitations of the methods quoted. This is referred to
as the scope of the
particular reaction.
Note: This problem is not nearly as trivial as the first two. The
stereochemsitry at the epoxide will be tricky. You might find something
in Chem. Rev. 1997, 97, 2341-2372.
