This site is brought to you by an Apple Internet Server Solution 2.0 (AISS) running Macintosh Operating System 9.0.4. The specific model is a 7250/120 WorkGroup Server with 144 MB of RAM, 13 GB of disk space, a 100 MB Ethernet connection, an external DAT backup and a UPS to keep us running. We've also got a PowerKey Pro 200 from Sophisticated Circuits which checks the server every 5 minutes and reboots it in the unlikely event that the server has crashed or hung.

We use a variety of applications and acgi's to provide services and some of our "Gee whiz" functions, most of which come included in the AISS package. For example:

• Webstar 4.2 Starnine (recently acquired by ACI) is our server software and is just wonderfully fantastic. Reliable, fast and very efficient.

• NetCloak from Maxum lets us do things like insert page counts and control access. For example, we can say that we are happy to have users from . Or that there are until the year 3000.

• Hypercard from Apple is used as a CGI to run the General Chemistry Performance Predictor.

Usage Statistics For This Server

We no longer make such statistics available, although we do review the server log for errors and attempts at site hacking.
