Summer Research Opportunities at UK Chemistry

In addition, many Chemistry faculty participate in summer research programs sponsored by other units on the UK campus, including:

• The NSF-Funded REU Program in Functional Materials
• The Kentucky Young Scientist Summer (KYSS) Research Program for Undergraduate Minority, Women, and Low-Income Students.
• If you qualify for financial aid, you may be able to do paid laboratory work under the auspices of the Work-Study program.

The programs allow you to spend eight to ten weeks carrying out cutting-edge research in the laboratories of our internationally renowned faculty. They are intended for undergraduates who are interested in pursuing graduate studies in Chemistry or related fields (US citizens and permanent residents only). The programs feature generous stipends, and housing is arranged and paid.

If you are a UK student, you might also want to consider registering for CHE 395 in the eight-week summer program.

Although of course we hope that your summer research experience will motivate you to apply to enter the graduate program in Chemistry at the University of Kentucky, your participation in these summer programs in no way commits you to attend graduate school here.
